The importance of sticking to deadlines

I have realised that being able to meet deadlines is very important in any organisation. Being unable to stick to deadlines will not only affect your colleagues, whom you’ll be working closely with, but their clients as well.



This came after I was unable to do a certain task, by a specific time given. I erred in failing cialis generique to inform my mentor of my not being able to stick to that deadline. This didn’t only affect her, but also the clients she had to report to, as they were not happy.

She advised me that in future, I should always respect deadlines because only good character and reputation will take me far in my career. It was an eye-opener for me because I didn’t realise that one mistake of an individual in an organisation can result in the organisation not reaching its objectives, hence losing clients.

How we can all ensure that we meet our deadlines which will contribute to the success of the agency:

  • Always ensure that you understand exactly what is expected of you. When briefed on a certain task or project, ensure that you ask questions for clarity. They will enable you to deliver on time.
  • Make sure you know when the deadline is. It is important to ask for the deadline if it is not provided. Knowing

    an exact date will motivate you to work harder and also help to prioritise your time.

  • If you have committed to complete a task or project at any given time, it is your duty to make sure that you deliver on time. This can be done by putting in extra hours or working off-site to avoid distractions at the office – especially if you work in an open plan environment.

With that being said, I have learned the importance to multi-task and also plan ahead when given various tasks. As an intern, I work with different divisions and it is very important to make sure that they are all satisfied. Learning this as an intern has given me the opportunity to be a competent permanent employee in the future.

Meropa’s exciting projects for the Interns

I was over the moon the first day I saw our “The Interns” video. It was my first time on camera and for the first time, I felt like a celebrity. All my colleagues, friends and lecturers have congratulated us on the wonderful initiative.

Meropa has come up with an exciting project for us, the interns, to showcase the ins and outs of working at an agency. The aim of this project is to allow us to be the voice of Meropa Communications, to share our experiences as we go about our different tasks every day, share how we find the environment, and the challenges we face as interns. The project will ultimately be an educational tool to educate those who want to study as well as those who don’t know what Public Relations is all about. It’s an insight into what we do, and will hopefully be an encouragement to anyone thinking about working at an agency in future. Here’s the link

The exciting part is the fact that our video has been uploaded on YouTube and so far the feedback is that we are doing a great job. We were congratulated by our lecturers at University of Johannesburg, colleagues, and friends. And the number of views recorded on our video is shooting up every day. It has been circulated on different social media platforms. More episodes will soon be released and I can’t wait to continue to inspire and educate PR students on the importance of working at an agency and gaining work experience.

If that’s not enough, we launched our The Interns twitter account which is a platform for us to engage and interact with our followers so that they can understand more of what we do, while promoting Meropa as a training ground.

I have learned so much these past few months and I am grateful for the platform Meropa has given me to grow as an individual. Every day viagra reacciones is a learning opportunity for me and so far I am enjoying my experience. The journey continues…

What I really like about Meropa!

I am privileged

to be part of an agency that is full of employees that are good at what they do and are always working hard. Not because they are forced to, but because they are passionate of what they are do.

I am a good observer and what has caught my eye is the internal communication here, which I believe is very crucial since it is the lifeblood of any organisation.  It builds mutual trust between management and employees and I like the fact that Meropa has seen the importance to do that. Everyone knows exactly what happens internally and coordination is effectively achieved, allowing us as an agency to still be ahead of our competitors.

I also like the fact that we are all allowed to attend brainstorm sessions, irrespective of our positions and divisions. This gives us all the chance to come up with ideas for strategies that will create agreement and satisfaction with our potential clients. At first, it was very difficult for me to come up with ideas since I felt that they were not going to be taken. But after my one -on- one session with the CEO, I have gained confidence.

What has thrilled me the most is the fact that we have news writing tests which aim to improve our writing abilities for publications, recognize things which are newsworthy and also convey that newsworthy information to the media.

With that being said, I also like the fact that here at Meropa, as an individual, I am learning every day. What I have realized from day one is the fact that you have to adapt and evolve in this industry because trends are always changing. It’s important to keep up with what everyone is doing (competitors), while striving to be different and do more than they do.

My journey so far here at Meropa Communications

I remember my first day here at Meropa like yesterday. I was terribly nervous and had no idea what to expect, but it went very well. Gugulethu and I were welcomed by the receptionist, Isabella. Wow! She was very pleased for us – the successful candidates for this internship – which made me very happy. A few minutes later, we were also welcomed by the HR manager, Lauren Jackson. She introduced us to our new colleagues and our mentors. I was told immediately that I will be spending a month working in the public sector and health division.

Then the visual team surprised us with an interview shoot. We had to profile ourselves on camera; explaining what our roles here at Meropa will be for the next six months. I was very nervous since it was the first time I have ever been filmed. We were told that the main objective of the shoot is to showcase our journey to all aspiring PR professionals. The plan is to show how agencies operate and to provide a platform for Meropa to sell itself as an ideal training ground and a professional online casino operation. The next three weeks were a smooth sailing for me as I wrote articles, communicated with media people regarding events, updated media lists, sent invitations and programmes to various media organizations and did some media coverage reports for events.

My highlight was the HEAIDS First Things First Campaign, which I attended at South West College where there was a launch of purple scented condoms.
